Black Women Making Six-Figure Plays with What They Already Know

Hey Reader!

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how often we, as Black women, downplay our brilliance.

We talk ourselves out of charging more, starting the business, pitching the offer, or calling ourselves an expert—all because somewhere along the way, we were taught that our talents weren’t enough unless someone else validated them.

But here’s what I want you to hear loud and clear today:
You already have what you need.

I’m not saying there’s no room for growth—we’re always evolving. But we don’t need to keep chasing permission or waiting for the “perfect” time to start building the life we want. The truth is, the skills we’ve gained—whether through our 9-to-5, side hustles, caregiving, or just navigating life as Black women in this world—are powerful. That lived experience? That’s value. That’s strategy. That’s resilience. And yes, that’s monetizable.

There was a time when I thought I needed another course or another certification to be taken seriously. But then I realized—people were already coming to me for guidance, insight, and support. I was already doing the work. I just hadn’t fully seen the value of what was already in my hands.

So if you’ve ever felt like you need to “get ready” before you show up, let me offer this:
You’ve been ready.

This week, I want to challenge you to look at your own skills through a different lens. What if the very talents you overlook are your ticket to financial freedom? Your way to create impact, shift systems, and build a legacy?

Whether you’re a strategist, a teacher at heart, the go-to in your group chat, the creative who always makes something out of nothing, or the planner who brings calm to chaos—there’s something in you that people already need.

Here’s how you can start turning your natural magic into income:

Identify your unique gifts.
What do people come to you for? Advice? Vision? Structure? Creativity? That’s your zone of brilliance.

Solve a problem.
Your gift becomes a business when it solves a real issue. Can you save someone time? Help them make money? Reduce stress? That’s value.

Put a price on it.
Say it with me: “It’s not just a hobby.” If your skills create transformation, you deserve to be compensated for them—boldly and without apology.

You don’t have to do everything at once. Start with clarity. Start with confidence. But start.

The power move you’re looking for? It’s already in your hands.
It’s time to stop shrinking and start building. The world needs your voice, your wisdom, and your leadership—right now.

Let’s make this your season to monetize your magic. 💸
We’re rooting for you, always.

With love and power,
'Tine

In The News

This recent report, "The 2025 Impact of Women-Owned Businesses: Black/African American Women Entrepreneurs", explores how Black women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in the U.S., with a nearly 81% increase in business revenue from 2019 to 2024, while also addressing persistent gaps in access to capital, resources, and equitable support.

Black/African American women-owned businesses are a driving force in the U.S. economy, leading 2 million businesses that employ over 647,000 people. They experienced impressive growth between 2019 and 2024, with revenue surging by 80.8% and employment increasing by 44.4%. While the firm numbers and revenue have grown significantly, these businesses face limited funding and mentorship challenges. Closing the revenue gap with the average men-owned business could add $1.7 trillion to the economy. By increasing access to funding, fostering inclusive procurement practices, and creating supportive programs, we can empower these entrepreneurs and unlock their full potential.

Hey Reader! Let’s be honest — a lot of us were raised to push through. To keep our heads down. To be “strong” no matter what. So when burnout creeps in, or doubt starts whispering, our first instinct is to handle it ourselves. But here’s the truth: We’re not meant to do this alone. And we’re not meant to wait until we hit a wall to reach for support. Too many Black women carry the weight of a whole household, a whole team, a whole vision — without having anyone to carry them. We’ve been...
